1. Elizabeth Merrick-Jefferson
I’ve been very moved by her track Knowledge Revolution, which just came out on Burek. When the label sent it to me, I listened to it at least five times in a row straight away. Deep, driving technosoul at its finest.
I guess at this point Bruce hardly needs introduction anymore, but the surprising ideas and WTF-moments in his tracks make me want to mention him anyway, as they demonstrate a type of attitude that’s vital to electronic music.
4. Snorre Magnar Solberg
Currently four releases deep, his Club No-No label is well worth checking out if you like your house music lo-fi, percussive and spellbinding.
A collaborative project from Beau Wanzer and Maoupa Mazzocchetti. The ‘Crepes’ EP they just put out on Dark Entries is absolutely slamming.
Leif is not a newcomer at all, but it’s his recent ‘July V’ track that really got me hooked, an arpeggiated bell/organ(?)-driven halfstep banger that sounds like a breath of fresh air right now.
