For more than twenty-five years the Mona Bismarck American Center has welcomed visitors to experience a wide range of exhibitions and related programs in the intimate setting of Mona Bismarck’s elegant townhouse. Ranging from the historical to the contemporary, exhibitions have included “Mary Cassatt in Paris: Prints and Drawings from the Ambroise Vollard Collection,” “The Wyeths: Three Generations of American Art” and “Yousuf Karsh: Icons of the 20th Century.” Today, this hidden treasure along the banks of the Seine continues to serve as a portal to American art and culture in Paris.
The Mona Bismarck American Center evolved from the Mona Bismarck Foundation, which was created in 1986 following the death of its founder and sole benefactor. In order to lend permanency to her philanthropic activities, Mona Bismarck bequeathed her Parisian townhouse and the majority of her estate to the Foundation with the purpose of fostering French-American friendship and understanding through art and culture.
